Another week has come to a close for our Multimedia Writing summer school course. Throughout the week I have learned an abundance of different things but most exciting I have begun to learn how to use both the Flip Video and Zoom H2 Handy Recorder! These handy tools will enable myself to create professional multimedia stories by myself.
These versatile tools are leading the way in which journalist now perform their job out in the field. With so much new technology being presented at such a rapid pace in today’s society we need to take advantage of all the different online “how-to’s” and tutorials that are offered on websites such as YouTube. There are also great websites that offer assistance in putting together the material you gather in the field.
Professor Ellen Mrja led us to a great website full of resources for journalists. Poytner News University offers a vast variety of self-directed courses. Some of the course cost a small fee such as the Adobe Dreamweaver to free courses such as the Language of the Image which I personally went through this week. This course will enable you to take a more useable, professional photographs.
Poyter News University is an ever evolving site that I personally urge all journalists, bloggers, free-lance writers or anyone who is interested in improving their journalistic ways to utilize. As the way in which we write, receive and interpret news throughout multimedia ever so evolving I find it so important to jump on the band wagon.
Since enrolling and beginning Multimedia Writing just two weeks ago I have realized the importance of not only learning all this great technology that is being invented but it’s also our duty as journalist, public relations specialist or what have you be it to stay in front of the trend.
As I have made a vow to myself to teach myself something new every day from here on out that will enhance my capabilities as a professional I ask you to do the same! Let’s ‘buzz’ into the future together. I’ll be the first to admit I am scared but why let my fears hold me back!
